Mattia Mihajlovic

Mattia is a qualified pianist and teacher who consistently seeks to enrich the communities he is a part of through music performance and education.

In the last few years, Mattia has been actively engaging with communities in Toronto and London Ontario through a number of musical avenues and events including multiple solo recitals, teaching piano lessons to students of all ages, performing in public recitals, galas, and concerts, and premiering original compositions for wind ensemble and small chamber groups. Most recently, Mattia co-founded the Western Student’s Chamber Collective to put on a performance of Carnaval des Animaux in Paul Davenport Theatre at Western University.

Mattia’s musical training includes his studies with Dr. Michael Esch of the University of Toronto and of the Esch Music Academy, and Dr. Brett Kingsbury, with whom he completed his Bachelor in Music specializing in piano performance at Western University. He has also worked with award-winning pianist Evelyne Brancart.

Mattia has received praise as both a teacher and a performer. His patience with students and his ability to carefully ease them into a comprehensive understanding of new and difficult concepts has been remarked on and greatly appreciated by parents throughout his several years as a music teacher. He has been described as having an impressive command over the keyboard and sensitive, expressive playing – attributes which he actively passes on to his students.

 Testimonial from a parent:
“My daughter has been diligently practicing every day since taking lessons with Mattia. His guidance and method has made her realize how she should actually be thinking about it and doing things.”
